Climate and Weather:
Due its high altitude, the summer temperatures are often cooler compared to other Eastern North Island towns, such as Masterton, Napier and Gisborne, while in winter Dannevirke can regularly experience frosts.

Skilled Jobs

Boners

Our Dannevirke Plant is currently looking for Skilled Boners to join the Team on Night Shift.

The role:

  • Cutting and separating meat into specific standardised cuts and portions using purpose knives.
  • De-bones from standard cuts of meat, such as racks, legs, shoulder, and loins to prepare meat cuts for packing and distribution.
  • Trim and sort meat to required specification
  • Operation of band /Atec /primal /splitting saws to cut carcasses if required

Skills required:

  • Previous experience in the meat processing industry
  • Knife handling and sharpening skills
  • Experience working in a processing room or Slaughter board preferably working with ovine is essential.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Have a sound understanding of good hygiene and safety practices.
  • You are eligible to work in New Zealand
  • You will pass a pre-employment drug test and medical assessment.
  • You are willing and able to follow and respect workplace health and safety.
  • You enjoy working within a team environment.

Meat Process Workers

Our 2024 – 2025 season is well underway at our Dannevirke Plant. We are currently looking for Meat Process Workers to join the team.

Te Tūranga – The role:

Right now, we are looking for:

  • Skilled Slaughter Board Labourers and Knife Hands
  • Further Processing Labourers

If you’ve got experience doing the mahi – awesome, but if you’ll be coming in fresh and just keen to earn while you learn – that’s good too, we’ll train you up!
