Climate and Weather:
Temperatures are mild compared with the rest of the country, with the region’s close proximity to the sea resulting in a relative lack of extreme high and extreme low temperatures. Temperatures exceeding 30°C are rare in coastal areas.
Nelson receives plenty of sunshine, particularly in Nelson City where average annual sunshine hours (approx 2,400 hours) are among the highest recorded in New Zealand.

Skilled Halal Slaughterer
We are currently recruiting for a Halal Slaughterer position at our Nelson Plant.
Our Halal Slaughterers are highly valued members of our team, who play critical roles within our plant. At Alliance, we understand the importance of producing quality, certified halal meat for our customers both locally and across the world.
The Role
- Performs the humane slaughter of Sheep, Lamb, and bobby calves in compliance with the principles of Shariah in the production and certification of halal meat products.
- Complies with all safe food handling, hygiene, and sterilisation procedures.

About You
- Ideally, you will be a qualified and registered Halal Slaughterer, although full training can be provided
- You will be a practising Muslim and a member of an Islamic Society in NZ
- Eligibility to live and work in NZ
- You will pass a pre-employment drug test and medical assessment
- You are willing and able to follow and respect workplace health and safety
- You enjoy working within a team environment
- You are physically fit, committed, and reliable

Shift start/finish times vary by department, dayshift generally 6am – 4pm and afternoon shift generally between 4pm – 2am.
- Nightshift hours Yards and Slaughter Board – 4:30pm – 2:30am
- Nightshift hours Further Processing – 5:30pm – 3:30am

The Alliance plant is located at Stoke, which is on the outskirts of Nelson city and on the way to Richmond. You can find accommodation in Nelson, Richmond, Motueka or in the smaller surrounding townships and rural areas.
